Nose: Why, hello! That's a proper sherry bomb! I do love a good PX cask. There's not the slightest whiff of sulphur here, it is all just lovely. Dried fruits of every imaginable kind, as well as golden syrup, vanilla, apples and milk chocolate. With time it feels even darker and deeper. It takes on an almost rum like character.

Taste: Rich and slightly dry mouthfeel. Tongue tickling! A touch fizzy. Deep and dark PX influence. Lots of darkly sweet fruit notes - dates, figs and raisins. Ashes, iodine and rich wood smoke. This is Islay, alright!

Finish: Very long finish. Turns more creamy now, no longer dry, more recognisable as a proper Laphroaig. Caramel and vanilla ice cream and camphor mixed with the sweet wood smoke now. Very nice finish.

Comments: A very appealing sherry bomb of a Laphroaig. Highly recommended!

Score (91/100)
