Glengoyne Cask Strength

Glengoyne Cask Strength

I have given you my tasting notes on a couple of the SMWS whiskies I tasted at The Bon Accord in Glasgow some weeks ago. That very same evening I tasted a Glengoyne Cask Strength. This was batch 002.

The Glengoyne Distillery is located just outside Glasgow, but there was not enough time to visit the distillery on this journey. I hope I will get the chance on another journey.

The whisky is available in Norway at NOK 699,90 (item number 280001). It is not available in Sweden.

Nose (21/25): A very fruity nose. I guess this is a sherry matured whisky. I found peaches, figs and ripe fruits, different kind. And I found just a hint of sulphur.

Taste (23/25): Wow, such a rich mouthfeel. A lot of ripe fruits here. I found peaches, plums, figs and apples. Maybe some dried fruits as well. Quite sweet with a lot of fudge.

Finish (21/25): The aftertaste was not as rich as the taste. Some fruits, but actually quite dry. Salt and sugar. Not much more.

Balance (22/25): Well, somewhat one dimensional whisky, but the taste was really nice. I have not tasted that many Glengoynes yet. Most of them have been to my taste, though, so I should taste some more.

Score (87/100)
