Glenfiddich 12 YO, 40 %
I attended a lovely ‘whisky dinner’ as a part of the foundation of Federation of Norwegian Whisky Societies earlier this year. The chef served whisky with every dish. One of the whiskies was Glenfiddich 12 YO.
I had not tasted this one before and thought it was exciting to get the chance. Actually I have only tasted two Glenfiddichs before; the 15 YO Solera and the 18 YO. My husband has written about Glenfiddich 18 YO.
Nose (19/25): The smell was kind of artificial sweetness, like candy. A bit ‘off’, but not bad. Other than that I could only define perfume.
Taste (18/25): Quite light on the palate. The artificial sweetness and perfume dominated the taste as well… I am not a huge fan of perfume, so even if the whisky was smooth enough, this was not my kind of whisky.
Finish (18/25): In the end I could only taste the perfume…
Balance (18/25): Although this was too much perfume for me, I thought it was a balanced whisky. The artificial sweetness and perfume were consistent from start to end…
