Glenburgie 1964 G&M, 46 år, 43 %

Glenburgie 1964A golden oldie now. Glenburgie 1964 from Gordon & MacPhail. It was bottled in 2010, so the age is about 46 years!

Smell (23/25): Dry hay, dust, fruit juice, some oakiness. It tickles the nose in a good way. Some spices come through as well, after it has been left alone in the glass for a while.

Taste (22/25): Hard candy of the sweet and fruity kind, sugary, slightly dry and a bit oaky.

Finish (22/25): Keeps on marching on the same path as it set out on initially. It does linger, and becomes a tad drier towards the end. Confusingly the driness is mixed with notes of simple syrup.

Balance (22/25): A very good old timer this. The oak does not dominate at all, it simply gives a firm foundation for the delicate fruitiness.

Score (89/100)
