Wow! I just wanna say it again: Wow! Cadenhead and Mark Watt has done it again. This is an amazing whisky.

I attended Cinderella Whisky Fair 2014 with my husband. We tasted the Caol Ila 1984 29 YO from Cadenhead's Small Batch series. The whisky was distilled in 1984 and bottled in 2013. There was a total of 564 bottles of this liquid gold. It has matured in bourbon hogsheads.

The whisky is available in Norway at Vinmonopolet for NOK 1 700 (item number 1476001). It is not available at Systembolaget in Sweden.

Nose (25/25): Perfection! A perfect mix of sea salt, beach, peat, smoke, iodine, leather and citrus. I guess you recognize these smells in a Caol Ila, and this was just the optimal mixture.

Taste (24/25): Full! Smooth! Smoke! Warm! And of course salt, caramel and spices. Such a lovely taste. I do not know what else to say. I really, really enjoyed it.

Finish (23/25): In the end salt, white pepper, licorice and smoke played along nicely, together with a lovely sweetness. Even though it was a very nice finish, in my opinion it lacked just the little something to make in lingering and warm.

Balance (24/25): Again: Perfection! This was a really lovely whisky that became better and better with each sip. Thank you, Mark and Cadenhead, this was an amazing whisky experience!
