Bruichladdich 1990 23 YO Finest Collection Cask Strength, 52,3 %

Bruichladdich 1990 23 YO Finest Collection Cask StrengthHere is another independent bottling, from Hart Brothers this time. This whisky was tasted during a full blind tasting. It is the Bruichladdich 1990 23 YO Finest Collection Cask Strength. The whisky was distilled in June 1990 and bottled in February 2014. It has been matured in bourbon cask.

Bruichladdich is one of my favorite distilleries, and I am always happy to try a new bottling of their whisky, whether it is an official bottling or an independent bottling.

You can buy this whisky in Sweden at SEK 1600 (item number 84370). It is brought to you by Whiskytaste Sweden.

Unfortunately I have not been able to find an image of the bottle, so you will have to settle for a more generic Bruichladdich image.

Nose (23/25): Light and fruity notes fill the room. Smells like delicate sophistication. Reminds me of the loveliest freshly baked artisan bread from the small bakery on the corner. The slightest hint of a salt sea breeze. A hint of honey.

Taste (22/25): Slightly salty again, and I like the sweetness here. Then, bizzaro moment, a fishy taste (literally) flashed by the taste buds - left them completely bewildered and flabbergasted! Tingling, sparkling, ginger and pepper.

Finish (22/25): Warm, lingering. Delicious ginger flavored caramel fruit drops. Honey and simple syrup. Sweetness!

Balance (22/25): A really fine dram, even if it gave me a bit of a scare with that fish story...

Score (89/100)
