Aultmore 1991 "Sweet Mint Infusion" (Wemyss Malts)It is not very often we get to try a whisky from the Speyside distillery Aultmore. This Aultmore 1991 "Sweet Mint Infusion" was distilled in 1991, matured in a hogshead, and bottled in 2013. The total outturn was 354 bottles.

Independent bottler Wemyss Malts launched this whisky in October 2013. It is still available to buy in Norway at NOK 1396 (item number 1594201), and in Sweden at SEK 1193 (item number 85708).

Nose (21/25): The official tasting notes on the label says 'Freshly washed linen nose [..]'. That is actually very accurate. If you also add that the washing liquid has a mild citrus smell, you have a perfect description of this nose. It feels comforting somehow.

Taste (20/25): Very light with medium body. There's citrus, caramel, white pepper and candied apples.

Finish (21/25): The finish brings more pepper, and lots of herbal notes. Mint and peppermint certainly dominate, together with menthol notes. It all makes for a very cool and refreshing finish.

Balance (21/25): A nice Speysider. This is a light dram that would go well as an aperitif. Do not bring this one out after five or six other drams, it would just drown.

Score (83/100)
