Arran Millennium Casks

Arran Millennium Casks

I have had sort of a weak spot for The Isle of Arran Distillers ever since they first started releasing their lovely, young whisky about 10-12 years ago.

The Isle of Arran Distillers is located on the island of the same name, not far from Campbeltown. It was established as late as 1995, making them a relatively young distillery still.

The Arran Millennium Casks is a limited edition of 7800 bottles. It was distilled on 31st December 1999 and 1st January 2000 - hence the name. This release is made up of 35 bourbon barrels and 10 sherry hogsheads. The Arran Millennium Casks was officially released for sale on October 28, 2013.

You can still buy this whisky in Norway at NOK 895 (item number 1473601). It is not for sale in Sweden, presumably sold out.

Nose (23/25): Creamy, with lovely bourbon and vanilla notes. Berries - especially strawberries, and soft citrus notes.

Taste (23/25): Creamy and sweet. Lovely berries and fruits on the palate as well. Vanilla and citrus. Apples - both fresh off the tree and baked. Strawberries. It is rich, very rich!

Finish (22/25): Warm and long, with sherry notes now. Sweet. Cinnamon and a hint of oranges.

Balance (23/25): Really, really nice. This is magic in a bottle. Arran have certainly come a long way in a relatively short period of time!

Score (91/100)
