Michter's 10 YO Bourbon

Today I put the 2016 edition of the Michter's 10 YO Bourbon to the test.

I was available to buy up until recently in the UK at around GBP 129. A new batch will surely be made available soon.

Nose: The nose is light, lovely, and refined. I find light summer fruits, in particular ripe apples. I also pick up notes of mild honey, soft vanilla and coconut.

Taste: The mouthfeel is soft. This is a bourbon to my taste. The perfume and floral notes are kept to a minimum. Instead we have a solid mix of spices (mainly pepper) and soft oaky notes. After a couple of sips it reveals a "green" side - I'm thinking grass or mint.

Finish: Medium long finish. I now find mild pepper (freshly ground - black and white) and the same tender fruity notes. There is of course vanilla as well, but not heavy handed. Towards the end there's hints of mint and menthol.

Comments: The nose was particularly good on this fine bourbon. I wold say it is well worth it to keep an eye out for the next round of releases of the vintage editions from Michter's. We should see the 2017 releases soon.
