Kings County Distillery Bourbon, NAS, 45 %

Kings County Distillery BourbonWhile Tuthilltown Spirits Distillery (makers of the Hudson whiskey) was the first distillery in New York State since prohibition, Kings County Distillery is the first distillery to operate within the borders of New York City since the Prohibition era, producing corn whiskey and bourbon whiskey. Kings County Distillery is located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and was founded in 2010.

The label of the whiskey specifies "aged less than 4 years". I must say I like the label. The minimalist style makes it look like a sample bottle. It certainly stands out.

Here is some additional info from the official website:

Kings County Distillery’s Bourbon is made from New York State organic corn and malted barley from the U.K., and aged in new, American oak charred barrels. [..] Generally aged for two summers, this bourbon is a precocious whiskey, surprisingly robust for its age.

You can purchase 200 ml bottles of Kings County Distillery Bourbon in the US at around USD 25. This whiskey is not yet available in Norway or Sweden, but some bars have this in stock if you want to try it.

Nose: Vanilla, banana milkshake, warm fudge, and corn. Deep and rich sweetness. It is a delightful nose. Easy to get lost in thought here...

Taste: Rich and oily mouthfeel. Spicy, perfumed and sweet. Pepper, tamarind, fudge, vanilla and baked apples.

Finish: Medium long finish. Remains very sweet throughout. A slight burnt edge - toast, maple syrup and dark caramel notes - towards the end. Polish and a touch of perfume still.

Comments: What a wonderful nose! A bit young-ish to taste, but a solid effort in my book.
