Glenburgie 1983 29 YO The Golden CaskGlenburgie is a Speyside distillery, owned by Pernod Ricrad. Almost all their product goes into blends, in particular Ballantine's. From time to time you can come across an independent bottling of Glenburgie single malt. If you do, taste it, buy it or do both. It will very likely be a great dram.

The Glenburgie 1983 29 YO The Golden Cask, is an independent bottling from House of MacDuff. It was distilled in 1983, and bottled in 2012, with a total outturn of 176 bottles. It has been matured in cask #CM187, with no further specification on the cask.

Nose (23/25): Lovely mixture of all kinds of vanilla desserts; ice-cream, caramel fudge, caramel sauce, marshmallows, and sweet pastries. I also find fruits drops, a bit citrusy - oranges and lemons.

Taste (24/25): Hello! Roll out the red carpet! Talk about a warm and embracing welcome. This whisky is super smooth, velvety and soft in character. Caramel, vanilla, a veritable fruit symphony!

Finish (22/25): Fantastic mouth-feel, warm and lingering. Mainly caramel and vanilla on the finish.

Balance (23/25): This is a real classic! I have rarely tasted a whisky with such a perfect mouth-feel. This was stunning!

Score (92/100)
