William Cadenhead 12 YO Blended Scotch - Sherry Cask, 46 %

William Cadenhead 12 YO Blended Scotch - Sherry CaskScotland's oldest independent bottler, W. M. Cadenhead, recently released a new series of ongoing products. One of these new products is the William Cadenhead 12 YO Blended Scotch - Sherry Cask.

I found some information about this bottling on the William Cadenhead whisky shop online:

"This blended whisky is matured in a sherry solera system whereby we will only ever bottle half of the batting before topping up the casks. The whisky is bottled at 46% and contains 65% Malt whisky and 35% Grain whisky.  Although the bottling will change slightly with each bottling the aim is to retain a solid sherry influence in the blend."

You can buy the William Cadenhead 12 YO Blended Scotch in Norway at NOK 595 (3911401), in Sweden at SEK 751 (8420201), and online in the UK at around GBP 39.

Nose: Dark berry notes, leather, unlit cigar, and dried fruits. It has an earthiness to it as well, and the vaguest hint of rubber hose. A whiff of smoke?

Taste: Cool and smooth mouthfeel. Caramel pudding, coffee beans, grape juice, vanilla, black pepper and ashes. Slightly astringent oak and ginger. A touch of rubber?

Finish: Medium long finish. Medium sweetness and soft spiciness (ginger mainly). A touch of pineapple juice and milk chocolate.

Comments: A fine and unusual blend with lots of character.

Score (81/100)
