Phew, that is some title, about as long as the title of a Meatloaf song. This is a limited edition that was released in September 2017.
The Irishman Founder's Reserve Florio Marsala Cask Finish was limited to 2970 bottles. The whiskey received a minimum of 12 months finishing in the hogshead casks that had previously held Florio Marsala wine.
Nose: Straight off this is a lot more sweet on the nose than the Irishman 12 YO. There certainly is a sweet wine like aspect to the sweetness. I also find a lot of vanilla, simple syrup and even waxy honey. With time the sweetness reveals a darker side - dark soil and wet Autumn leaves.
Taste: Medium body with a fresh and lively character. Sweet on the palate as well, and quite fruity.
Finish: Medium to short. It does wither and die rather quickly. Herbal tea, vanilla and hints of dark chocolate as it winks out of existence.
Comment: Sweet and charming, but quickly forgotten.
