This blended malt was composed of four 1st fill bourbon barrels containing Highland malts. The release is limited to 660 bottles. The independent bottler in this case, Spheric Spirits, is completely new to me. You can read up on them here.

The Spheric Spirits Vintage 1988 Blended Malt is available to buy in Norway at NOK 2300 (12763001). It is also available from Spheric Spirits own online shop at € 138.

Nose: A dusty, old, wooden crate filled with pineapple and coconut. Tropical bonanza! It feels old, yet vibrant and juicy at the same time. With time it shows a darker side with dark caramel mixed in with earthy vanilla. Also more towards citrus now - orange zest - softly bitter.

Taste: Medium body. More laid back and not as fresh on the palate. Yet I find it pleasantly tropical, with a medium sweetness. It is somewhat dry in character. Some ginger and toffee. Green herbs in the background.

Finish: Long finish. Tropical fruits still - but slowly fading away and becoming more dusty and a little oaky. Camphor and hints of eucalyptus. Green grass and hay in the end.

Comment: A very fine blended malt.

Score 88/100

PS! I think they really nailed the 80s vibe with that label!
