I have now tried batch 1 of Slyrs 3 YO Single Malt Bavarian Whisky from independent bottler That Boutique-y Whisky Company.

Slyrs Destillerie is a German distillery, located in Schliersee. Tobias has previously written a great article on his visit to the distillery.

This limited limited release has a total outturn of 691 bottles (50 cl).

You can buy the in the UK at around GBP 65.

Nose: Hmm, this is quite nice actually. Please forgive my weird analogies, but I'm thinking semi-sweet Riesling with added vanilla, a touch of peppery sawdust and a drop of menthol.

Taste: Medium of body and full of attitude. Spicy and rather sweet initially. The sweetness is again colored by a hint of menthol. Sugar and white wine, minus the vanilla now.

Finish: Medium to short finish. Mild notes of pepper, some ginger and nutmeg. Rather oaky - and a bit dry. Fizzy. Peppermint and white sugar in the end.

Comment: Candy in a candy shop. Stranger in a strange land.

Score 84/100
