Nikka Pure Malt Red

Nikka Pure Malt Red

This is a blended malt from Nikka, Japan. The other two in the series are called White and Black. They all contain a mix of single malt from the two Nikka owned distilleries Yoichi and Miyagikyo. The White had the highest content of Yoichi of the three, and is no longer produced due to low stock of Yoichi. The Nikka Pure Malt Red has a high content of Miyagikyo.

The Nikka Pure Malt Red will be available to buy in Norway starting Nov 15 at NOK 630 (7681602). It is also available in the UK at around GBP 44.

Nose: Malty and fruity. Feels a bit smoky as well, or perhaps that is just roasted tropical fruits? Coconut, assorted unsalted nuts. Tropicana!

Taste: Medium to rich body. Lots of caramel, ginger and vanilla. Cinnamon sticks.

Finish: Medium long finish. Soft and comforting landing, albeit a bit weaker in character.

Comments: What can I say? It is pure quality, but maybe not very exciting.
