This is the first single cask release from Arctic distillery Myken in Norway. This unpeated Myken Solo PX Sherry 2020 was distilled in December 2015 and January 2016, matured in a 55 litre ex PX sherry cask, and bottled in January 2020. This release is limited to just 80 50 cl bottles.

This cask was originally planned to be included in the vatting for their Myken Octave Symphony 2020 released in March of this year, but they figured it was such a special cask they opted to keep it for a single cask release.

You can buy this whisky at the special release in Norway on June 4 at NOK 1199.

Nose: Cool, sublime and rich sherry notes. Soo rich.. Raisins and dates. Cinnamon, nutmeg and white pepper. Darker notes of red berries and toasted oak. Top notes of light fruitiness, vanilla, white sugar and mint. With time it turns more green in character - and it makes sense.

Taste: Rich and full bodied. Creamy mouthfeel. Honey and nuts and added to the mix now - a whole new dimension to an already complex arrangement of aromas. The dried fruits are still here - of course. As well as the spices. With time dark chocolate and mint -> After Eight chocolate.

Finish: Medium long finish. The spices come more to the fore now. Black and white pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg. A touch of Sichuan pepper as well.

Comment: The best so far from Myken, and one of the very best from Norway ever! Amazingly rich and complex for a 4 YO. What a fantastic PX cask!

Score 88/100
