I have had a few Millstone whisky samples from Zuidam Distillers BV in the Netherlands on the shelf for a while now. It is time I shared my experience with you, I think.

So, here we have the Millstone 2010 6 YO Peated PX Cask - Special No. 10. It was distilled on 2010-10-19, and fully matured in a PX sherry butt (cask #B0247). It was bottled in November 2016, with a total outturn of 707 bottles.

Nose: Oh, this one is firing on all cylinders. Plenty of peat, lots of dried fruits, and a rich sweetness. It's a bit rough in a charming way. Unwashed, unkempt, somewhat dirty and scoundrel like. I admit I like this style. The peatiness comes across as ashes, and thick, black, wood smoke.

Taste: Rich and full-bodied. Burnt caramel, fruity ashes, vanilla and light summer fruits.

Finish: Medium long finish. White sugar, for a second, before it turns darker and dirtier again. Not so much creamy as oily. Dried fruits that I cannot pinpoint with any accuracy.

Comment: A very charming scoundrel. Give Zuidam Distillers and their Millstone whiskies a try!

Score 86/100
