Michter’s US*1 Unblended American Whiskey

Michter’s US*1 Unblended American Whiskey, NAS, 41.7 %

So what makes this an unblended American whiskey and not a bourbon, you might ask? Well, it has been produced like a bourbon, and has a bourbon style mash bill (as far as I know). But it has been matured in used bourbon barrels. Bourbon has to be matured in virgin American oak barrels, hence the different category.

There is no age statement or official info on this whiskey, but I have heard rumours that it is around 4-5 YO.

You can buy the Michter’s US*1 Unblended American Whiskey in Norway starting tomorrow, and the price for a bottle is NOK 680 (3958201). You can also buy it in the UK at around GBP 50.

Nose: Presents itself very much like a bourbon, but perhaps a bit more laid back and mellow. Warm and earthy notes of cinnamon and vanilla. Dried fruits. Hints of marzipan and caramel. Rich and delicate

Taste: Medium body. Mild and fruity upfront. Caramel, cinnamon and mild pepper. Coconut and vanilla.

Finish: Medium long finish. Toasted oak now, as well as hints of tropical fruits.

Comment: A very fine young American.
