Mannochmore 1990 25 YO (Special Releases 2016)I continue my review of the Diageo Special releases 2016. Today I am looking at the Mannochmore 1990 25 YO. It is not very often I come across whisky from mannochmore, as they mainly produce for blends. I have reviewed just one Mannochmore before, a release from SMWS (see here).

This release has been matured in a mix of fresh American oak and European oak casks, 1st fill ex-bourbon American oak barrels and ex-sherry European oak butts. Only  3954 bottles were produced.

You can still buy the Mannochmore 1990 25 YO (Special Releases 2016) in Norway at NOK 2200 (6391801). It seems to be sold out most everywhere else.

Nose: Rich notes of coffee and dried fruits. Dessert is served, obviously! Candied oranges, raisins, dates, caramel, dark chocolate. Deep, rich and delicate at the same time. This is like a gentle kiss on the nose.

Taste: Full bodied and rich mouthfeel. Again lots of dried fruits (dates, apricots and raisins), as well as honey, caramel and orange juice reduction.

Finish: Long finish. Rich, rich, rich! Continues as it started, but keeps adding new levels of intensity, before it slowly goes in for a very graceful landing.

Comments: Wow! I have not had many Mannochmores, but this is definitely the best one! It is a stunner!

Score (92/100)
