This is the first of four Mackmyra whiskies released for the German market in 2017. They have all been finished in Rotspon casks from the von Have vineyard. They have all been named to honor famous Swedish women.

The Mackmyra Selma Rotspon Double Wood is an unpeated whisky, and has its name from author Selma Lagerlöf 1858-1940. This release is limited to 428 bottles.

Nose: Sugary and oaky is my first impression. Dark and rich. White wine, honey and vanilla.

Taste: Rich and full bodied. Sugary and oaky in the palate as well. But it is not overly sweet or over-oaked. It sort of works. Honey and mild spices as well.

Finish: Medium long finish. Still honey sweet. Mild oakiness. Dark caramel notes. Wine like sweetness and burnt caramel in the end.

Comment: Not too shabby at all.

Score 85/100
