Longmorn-Glenlivet 1987 26 YO Cadenhead Small Batch, 49,5 %

Longmorn-Glenlivet 1987 26 YO Cadenhead Small BatchIn my glass this time is the product of two great institutions of scotch whisky. The whisky is distilled at Longmorn distillery, and the product is sold by Independent Bottler Cadenhead. The Longmorn-Glenlivet 1987 26 YO is a recent addition to their small batch series. The total outturn for this expression was 402 bottles, so I assume we are talking about 2-3 casks. I do not know the details of the casks used.

Distilled on 1987-05-31 and bottled in 2013.

You can buy this whisky at Vinmonopolet in Norway at NOK 1700 (item number 1475501), and at Systembolaget in Sweden at SEK 1799 (item number 84067).

Nose (23/25): Fantastic sweetness! It is so rich, deep, and complex. This is a philosophical whisky! Lots of fruit, apples and pears at the forefront, lurking in the shadows I also find oranges and a hint of something citrusy. After a while I also detect rich syrup and sweet candy.

Taste (22/25): Rich - almost thick, sugary and syrupy. It is quite massive, almost overwhelming. Very similar to the nose; the fruits are all here, as well as the syrup. A hint of spices as well.

Finish (23/25): The spices become a bit more noticeable; white pepper in particular. Long, warm, rich, sweet, and plain lovely.

Balance (22/25): Lean back and relax. Let this whisky take you on a trip, around the world and back, and you won't have to move, you just sit still...

Score (90/100)
