Ledaig 2007 8 YO (Beacon Spirits)Here is another recent release from Belgian independent bottler Beacon Spirits. The Ledaig 2007 8 YO was matured in an unspecified barrel, and the outturn was 169 bottles.

You can buy the Ledaig 2007 8 YO straight from Beacon Spirits at € 65.

Nose: Minerals and rocks, wet rocks. A bit flinty, in fact! It has a slight edge to it, and it feels a bit maritime. Less maritime and flinty with time, instead I find it more oaky (sawdust) and chocolate-y. There is a touch of peatiness here, but not much. The first whiff just screamed Ledaig!

Taste: Clean and dirty at the same time. Ashes! Sugar! Vanilla! Smoky and smooth. Light.

Finish: Short-ish finish. Sweet and smooth. Not a whole lot else going on now.

Comments: After the initial loud announcement of being a Ledaig, it took on a character more like a young and feisty Caol Ila or an edgy and peaty Bunnahabhain. Really loved the taste here!
