Lagavulin 12 YO (Special Release 2015)I follow-up from yesterday's review. Here's the 2015 release; the Lagavulin 12 YO (Special Release 2015). A classic 12 YO, cask strength Lagavulin. Rougher, younger and more character-full than the regular 16 YO, in my humble opinion. This was the 15th release of the 12 YO cask strength. This release is specified as having been matured in bourbon casks.

Again the Lagavulin 12 YO (Special Release 2015) cost around 80 GBP when it was released, and it is now sold out.

Nose: Vanilla, iodine, and seasalt. Uncooked, smoked sausages. A distinct meaty aroma. Rich, sweet wood smoke. Coal and leather.

Taste: Rich and full bodied mouthfeel. Mouthwatering and delicious! Raw bacon, ginger, iodine, ashes, and caramel. A slightly bitter note in the back.

Finish: Medium long finish. More ginger, more iodine and ashes, more caramel. Honey. Unsalted peanuts. Licorice and hints of citrus.

Comments: Medicinal, sweet and meaty. Just the way we love our Lagavulin.

Score (88/100)
