Knob Creek Rye

Knob Creek Rye

This is a powerhouse of a rye from mega corporation Beam Suntory (who again owns Jim Beam). The Knob Creek Rye must legally contain a minimum of 51 % rye in the mashbill, but that is also all that is known about this particular mashbill.

The Knob Creek Rye will shortly be available to buy in Norway at NOK 680 (2570901). It can also be bought in the UK now, at around GBP 41.

Nose: Rather sweet; sugary sweetness and rye sweetness. It reminds me of a sweet and spicy rye bread. It certainly is both rich and balanced. A fair amount of toasted oak and vanilla. Traces of citrus.

Taste: Very rich and decidedly full bodied. Lots of vanilla and caramel notes. Imagine grilled marshmallows dipped in a mix of maple syrup and floral honey.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Honey, dark syrup and caramel. Notes of pepper and nuts. It's thick and delicious.

Comments: Yum yum!
