Johnnie Walker The Royal RouteMore blends coming your way. Today I take a closer look at the Johnnie Walker The Royal Route. This is a whisky in the Explorers' Club Collection from Johnnie Walker.

I have previously tried the following other whiskies in this series; Johnnie Walker The Spice Road, Johnnie Walker The Gold Route.

It is a Duty Free exclusive, and from what I can gather the price is around USD 120 for a 1 litre bottle.

Nose: Quite rich. Lovely notes of cinnamon, vanilla, red berries, malt and baked banana. There's a solid and appealing base of warm, earthy, spicy notes. Beeswax and apple peel.

Taste: Medium body, medium sweetness. Relatively spicy, with white pepper, nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon making up the body. Hints of dried fruits and a whiff of smoke.

Finish: Medium to short finish. Less sweet now. More oaky, and with a slightly bitter-ish twist. Bitter oranges and bitter chocolate. The smoky whiffs are still here, but barely perceptible.

Comments: A decent everyday dram.
