Glentauchers 2008 9 YO Octave - Daracha's utvalgte nr. 2This Octave release from Independent Bottler Duncan Taylor is bottled exclusively for their Norwegian importer, Daracha. This is in fact cask number 2 in a series of such exclusive bottlings, hence the subtitle "Daracha's utvalgte nr 2" - which in English translates into "Daracha's selected cask no. 2".

Glentauchers 2008 9 YO Octave - Daracha's utvalgte nr. 2 was initially matured in unspecified oak casks, and then transferred to an Octave cask (cask #8515944) for 4 months of finishing. The final outturn was 74 bottles.

You can buy the Glentauchers 2008 9 YO Octave - Daracha's utvalgte nr. 2 in Norway at NOK 961 (8151901).

Nose: Oaky and spicy. Both baked apples and fresh green apples. Vanilla and hints of leather.

Taste: Very rich and full-bodied. Lots of spices up front - ginger and white pepper predominantly. A touch green and floral.

Finish: Medium long finish. Dried vanilla sticks, toffee, unsalted peanuts, and ginger. It comes across as lightly fizzy (I know! There's no actual fizz here, but that's how it feels to my fine-tuned tongue, now firmly placed in cheek..). A lick of iron and cold blood.. eh..hmm..blood orange?

Comments: The octave has left an impression, and it is a fine impression at that. Enjoyable!

Score (85/100)
