Glenmorangie Milsean Private Edition, NAS, 46 %

Glenmorangie Milsean Private EditionThe Glenmorangie Milsean Private Edition is the seventh release in the Private Edition range. Here at Whisky Saga HQ only the Astar has previously been reviewed. This release was initially matured in ex-bourbon casks and then received a six months finish casks that had previously held Portuguese red wine.

The name "Milsean" is Scots Gaelic for 'Sweet Things' so that sort of advertises what we can expect. We might not agree though, so let's see.

You can buy the Glenmorangie Milsean Private Edition in Norway at NOK 880 (3582501), in Sweden  at SEK 899 (1157801), and in the UK at around GBP 70.

Nose (22/25): Light and fruity. There's a touch of perfume to it, as well as soft vanilla notes. I find it both fresh and a bit earthy at the same time. Ripe banana, dark and red berries.

Taste (20/25): Lots of character and a full mouthfeel. Spicy, floral, sweet and lightly perfumed. It feels a bit rough - although I cannot exactly pinpoint what makes me feel this way. Cinnamon and candied fruits (apple, pear and melon).

Finish (20/25): Relatively short finish. Light fruit notes (banana and apples), caramel, demerara sugar and red berries. Quite sweet, all the way.

Balance (20/25): This certainly was an assortment of 'sweet things', but not a whole lot more.

Score (82/100)
