Glenkinchie 12 YO

Glenkinchie 12 YO

Back in 2007 the Glenkinchie 10 YO was replaced by the Glenkinchie 12 YO. This whisky is one of the Six Classic Malts from Diageo. It is one of few Lowland whiskies that are readily available on the market, although we will see more going forward. We now have the peated Ailsa Bay from the Lowland region, for instance.

You can easily get your hands on a bottle of Glenkinchie 12 YO in Norway at NOK 500 (463701), in Sweden at SEK 419 (83823), and in the UK at around GBP 31.

Nose: New make and oak. Perfumed, wet planks. Caramel, menthol and pears.

Taste: Catwalk skinny body. Fresh oak and pepper. Mild fruitiness and hints of perfume. A slight bitter touch to it.

Finish: Medium long finish. The bitterness is upped a little more now. There is now hints of alcohol burn. Sugary sweet, minty and perfumed. Hints of chocolate arrive with a somewhat oily finish.

Comments: I cannot quite come to terms with it.
