GlenDronach 1993 19 YO Single Cask, 59,4 %

GlenDronach 1993 19 YO Single CaskWow, it has been a year since my last review on a GlenDronach Single Cask! About time I tasted a new one then. And where did I taste it? At Dr. Jekylls Pub in Oslo. They always have a nice selection of single casks GlenDronach on their shelf.

GlenDronach distillery releases their single cask whiskies in batches. They have done so since 2009. Todays whisky was part of batch 6 which was released July 2012. It was distilled 26 February 1993, then it was matured in Oloroso sherry butt #536 until it was bottled into 596 bottles June 2012.

This whisky is not available in Norway or Sweden.

Nose (21/25): Quite oaky on the nose. Some sherry notes appeared, like orange peel, cloves and cardamom. I actually smelled like mahogany after a while, polished mahogany.

Taste (21/25): A rich taste. The oak and spices dominated at first. Then peaches and sugar joined in. A bit perfume as well, which is not something I often find in GlenDronach.

Finish (20/25): Still oaky in the end mixed with spices. Warm and dry. Perfume and metallic.

Balance (21/25): This GlenDronach was different from the other single casks I have tasted. A bit narrow and shy, sort of. To me it seemed it had been left in the cask too long. I guess that would explain the oakiness and probably the perfume? Still a decent whisky though.

Score (83/100)
