Deanston is a Highland distillery, founded as late as 1965. The distillery is today owned by Burn Stewart Distillers Ltd, who also own Bunnahabhain and Tobermory.

I have tried a special edition here, the Deanston 30 YO. The standard product is a 12 YO.

Nose: Softly floral and clear sherry notes. Raisins, milk chocolate, almonds and hints of vanilla. Some perfume, but this dissipat6es with time.

Taste: Very delicate and appetizing sherry styled whisky. Medium to rich body. Simple syrup, almond paste, raisins and assorted spices. Quite fruit.

Finish: Long finish, but without a whole lot of development. Towards the end I’m left with mild notes of caramel and oak. Relatively dry and somewhat astringent.

Comment: A very fine dessert whisky.
