Cragganmore Limited Release (Special Releases 2016), NAS, 55,7 %

Cragganmore Limited Release (Special Releases 2016)Here is my second review of Diageo Special Releases 2016 whisky. The Cragganmore Limited Release (Special Releases 2016) was released with a limited run of 4932 bottles. This is the sixth time Cragganmore is included in the annual Special Releases line-up. This is a whisky with no age statement, and actually the only NAS in the 2016 line-up. It was matured in a mix of American oak hogsheads (both refill and rejuvenated casks) and European oak ex-sherry butts.

You can buy the Cragganmore Limited Release (Special Releases 2016) in Norway at NOK 3500 (6391701), and online in the UK at around GBP 400.

Nose: Fresh water beach in the Winter. Wet stones. Tropical fruits. Vanilla and caramel ice cream. Tobacco and earthy notes.

Taste: Full bodied and smooth mouthfeel. Apples and honey, sprinkled with white pepper, ginger and sawdust.

Finish: Medium long finish. Continues much as it started. Quite spicy all the way. Licorice added to the mix now, as well as marzipan and nuts. A touch perfumy.

Comments: It is big and bold, with lots of character, but not truly 'special'.

Score (86/100)
