Cedar Ridge Malted Rye Whiskey

Cedar Ridge Malted Rye Whiskey, NAS, 43 %

Here is a rye whiskey from a distillery I am not at all familiar with. The Cedar Ridge Rye has a mashbill of 51 % malted rye, 34 % unmalted rye, 12 % corn, and 3 % malted barley.

The Cedar Ridge Distillery is located in Swisher, Iowa. You can read up on their official info here.

The Cedar Ridge Malted Rye Whiskey is available to buy in Norway at NOK 859 (10628201). As far as I can tell this product is not available in Sweden or in the UK. You can buy it in the US, of course, at around USD 33.

Nose: Orange zest, rosewater, vanilla and floral honey. Rather mild and relaxed. Hints of honey and pepper.

Taste: Medium body and somewhat rough mouthfeel. Spicy perfume. Green, floral notes mixed with black and white pepper.

Finish: Medium long finish. Orange zest again, now accompanied by notes of mint. Honey and camphor towards the end. Refreshing finish

Comment: An OK rye. I would have wanted a bit more body and slightly less floral/perfumy notes.
