Time for a real classic today. Celebrating the simple fact that it is again Friday! The Bunnahabhain 1968 / 2002 Auld Acquaintance was distilled on New Years Eve 1968, matured in ex-sherry casks, and bottled 2002. Limited to 2002 bottles and subtitled “Limited Hogmanay edition”.

Nose: A symphony of dried fruits, mingling with the sophistication of oak. There's a spicy duo of cinnamon and nutmeg, enriched by notes of dates, sandalwood, and classic cigar box notes. Linger a bit longer and hints of dusty corners, refreshing eucalyptus, and smooth coffee liqueur emerge.

Taste: A dance of flavors on a medium-bodied stage. Its dryness is complemented by an array of dark, spicy notes. Dive deep into the exotic, led by bold cinnamon, embraced by leather and the subtle warmth of sandalwood. A hint of dust and a dash of dark chocolate round it out.

Finish: Very long and lingering finish. Surprisingly fresh, vivacious, and not overly oaked. While the spices mellow, the juiciness of orchard fruits comes forth, with undertones of coffee liqueur and that familiar dark chocolate. It wraps up with sun-kissed oak, whispers of eucalyptus and mint, all while a sweet undertone balances the dryness.

Comment: Absolute showstopper!
