Berentsens Brygghus reveal their whisky brand

The Norwegian whisky distillery (and brewery) Berentsens Brygghus AS today revealed the brand name for their soon to be released single malt whisky. The brand name is Vardberg, and here is their explanation for the choice of name:

“Through thousands of years, the mountain Vardberg in Egersund has attracted settlers at the foot of the mountain – as if it had some supernatural powers. At the mountains west side there are rock carvings from the bronze age, around the mountain viking kings had their royal estates, and the city has been an important trade centre since then. At the top of the mountain there are compass roses carved in, made in the sail ships golden age.”

The below image reveals details from the label and the design. Captain Wilhelm Berentsens’ ship in the harbour of Egersund, by the foot of Vardberg, seen from the distillery.

As far as I know we can expect the first single malt release from Berentsens Brygghus early 2023.
