The Balvenie 14 YO Caribbean Cask is first matured in "traditional oak casks", which I presume are refill bourbon barrels or hogsheads, for 14 years. Then the spirit is finished (or "extra matured") in rum casks.

You can buy the in Norway at NOK 849,90 (1719101), in Sweden at SEK 629 (8528801), and in the UK at around GBP 43.

Nose: Ripe banana and mild notes of apples. It does come across as earthy, with notes of wine and fruit jelly. With time more and vanilla, as well as mild caramel and a touch of wood. Sort of cool.

Taste: Medium to full of body, and creamy mouthfeel. Honey with peppery notes upfront. Nuts, apples, and a generous helping of vanilla. Hints of tropical fruits.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Again honey, but now minus the spices. Caramel and mild coffee.

Comments: I am not sure I feel like a pirate now, but it was an easy enough dram. Har har!
