Auchentoshan 1999 17 YO Cadenhead Small Batch, 55,5 %

Auchentoshan 1999 17 YO Cadenhead Small BatchLet's try a Lowland whisky today. Let' try the independent bottling Auchentoshan 1999 17 YO Cadenhead Small Batch. When they say 'small batch' at Cadenhead they do mean small batch. In this case the batch is 2 bourbon hogsheads, and a total of 498 bottles. It was bottled in June this year, so a fairly new release.

You can still buy the Auchentoshan 1999 17 YO Cadenhead Small Batch in Norway at NOK 1400 (6829601).

Nose: Light and playful notes of vanilla and coconut. A whiff of bourbon. Chocolate and toasted oak. Beneath it all I sense a delicate fruitiness - tending towards citrus notes. A bit green perhaps - grass notes coming through after a bit.

Taste: Soft and oily mouthfeel, almost creamy character. Full-on and delectable citrus notes mixed with slightly aggressive spices. It is a mouthful, literally, but it is a very nice experience.

Finish: Medium long finish. Citrus notes all the way to the finish line with this one - limes and lemons - juice and zest. Oily throughout, and with medium sweetness.

Comments: Is this an Auchentoshan? Really? Well, frankly I don't care. I love it, whatever it is!
