Armorik Classic - Whisky Breton Single Malt

We will today continue our series of reviews of whisky from Distillerie Warenghem, France. The Armorik Classic - Whisky Breton Single Malt has been around a few years. This is a No Age Statement (NAS) whisky that has been matured in a mix of 1st fill and refill bourbon casks, and some sherry casks thrown in.

This whisky is available in Norway at NOK 685 (299601) - the price was previously 910. The Armorik Classic is not currently available to buy in Sweden.

Nose (22/25): Fruits, berries and nuts - if I was preparing for a long, hard winter this would be perfect in the cupboard! Fresh green apples, honey melon and strawberries are the standouts. This is a fresh summer whisky on the nose. A hint of  toast covered with orange marmalade in the background. The oranges come more into focus after the first sip.

Taste (20/25): Quite full. Caramel and pepper upfront. Oranges and mild chili make themselves known as a second wave.

Finish (20/25): Oranges, orange zest and pepper. Caramel and fudge. Warm and medium length.

Balance (20/25): A delicate summer dram, I would say. Not too demanding, not too complicated.

Score (82/100)
