Angels' Nectar First Edition, NAS, 40 %

Angels' Nectar Blended Malt - First EditionThis is the first product from independent bottler Highfern, a company founded by Robert Ransom, formerly of Glenfarclas. The Angels' Nectar First Edition is made from one Speyside single malt and two Highland single malts. The distilleries are not disclosed.

This whisky is limited to a production run of 6000 bottles.

The Angels' Nectar First Edition is currently not for sale in Norway or Sweden. In the UK you can pick up a bottle at around GBP 35. It is also for sale in several other European markets already.

Nose (21/25): Rich, full and fruity. The fruits that come to mind are primarily fresh lemons, lime zest, and fresh green apples. There's vanilla, malt, and soft spices. It's fresh and fun.

Taste (19/25): Soft and delicate mouthfeel. A bit less fruity and a bit more spicy than the nose. It gets off to somewhat of a slow start. Then it starts to blossom with more spices, and a touch of oak and malt.

Finish (20/25): Medium long finish. Towards the end the sweetness gives way to more herbal and green notes. Afternoon tea, After Eight mint chocolate and tomato plant. Strange but quite enjoyable.

Balance (20/25): A fine, entry level blended malt. I would have preferred it at 46 % ABV, but I imagine I am not in the primary target audience. It is a solid product.

Score (80/100)
