Angel's Envy Port Finished Bourbon, NAS, 43,3 %

Angel's Envy Port Finished BourbonHere is an odd one; a port finished bourbon. Angel's Envy Port Finished Bourbon, is matured for up to six months in new American Oak, before receiving a six month finish in Ruby port wine casks. This is a small batch product as well. Each batch consists of just 8-12 barrels.

I have not seen this bourbon for sale in Norway or Sweden, but if you buy it online it will set you back about USD 45, plus all the taxes and shipping etc.

Nose (23/25): Very soft and delicate, mellow and laid back. A mixture of refined bourbon sweetness and port wine notes. Mild caramel, vanilla, maple syrup, sweet fruits, raisins, nuts, camphor and a hint of licorice. After a while the fruits turn darker and the caramel gets a bit heavier.

Taste (22/25): Smooth! Soft and delicate caramel and vanilla. Mild fruits, and some nuttiness. Corn sweetness, and an almost cooling effect on the palate.

Finish (21/25): The corn sweetness is more pronounced. Caramel, maple syrup, and some slight notes of burnt toast or brown sugar right at the finish line. It's almost a whiff of smoke there at the end.

Balance (22/25): What a lovely and easy-sipping bourbon! This is one for late summer evenings on the porch.

Score (88/100)
