Amrut 2009 Single Cask PX #2697, 4 YO, 56,5 %

Amrut 2009 Single Cask PX #2697Amrut distilleries certainly know how to make whisky to my taste. I recently shared my tasting notes on Amrut Naarangi. Today it is time to taste one of their Single Cask releases. My husband has already shared his thoughts on the Single Cask Portpipe.

This Amrut is as I said a Single Cask release. The whisky was distilled in June 2009, matured in Pedro Ximenez (PX) sherry butt #2697 until bottling in September 2013, a total of 348 bottles.

It is available in Norway at NOK 1 010,80 (item number 1118501). It is not available in Sweden.

Nose (23/25): Very obvious sherry notes. Figs and dried apricots at first. Warm caramelized apples. Real home made caramel pudding with eggs. Soft and rich. Leather and iodine mixed with something fresh. A very complex nose indeed. I think the freshness it herbs. Liquorice as well.

Taste (24/25): Very, very rich. Mmm...this is a whisky to enjoy for a long time. Fruity and sweet. Smooth and warm. Still obvious sherry notes. Figs, bananas and fresh apricots. Caramel pudding on the taste as well.

Finish (23/25): Rich. Dark chocolate. Everlasting. The dark chocolate makes it a bit dry. Still the caramel is present. Eucalyptus and menthol. Cold-ish.

Balance (23/25): Very well balanced. Period!

Score (93/100)
